With very little to do and nowhere to go during the pandemic, television has kept many of us entertained, occupied and sane throughout 2020 – especially the entertainment and reality series that have persevered and adapted to the evolving restrictions of COVID-19.
Read on for the nominees and be sure to vote in the poll – be quick as the poll is open between February 2, 2021 (9 a.m.) and February 14 (5 p.m.), so make sure you have your say. .

The masked singer
ITV
The masked singer returned on Boxing Day with his second series following its launch in early 2020 and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Featuring a roster of 12 celebrities dressed up in ridiculous costumes, from a massive grandpa clock to an animated sausage, this wacky entertainment show has set the internet ablaze with crazy guesses and detailed fan sleuthing. With the singing celebrities completely covered up, you couldn’t ask for a better show to air during the pandemic.
I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here!
ITV
While many weren’t sure if I’m a celebrity would move forward this year in light of the pandemic, the long-running reality show has finally succeeded, moving from sunny New South Wales to a castle in north Wales. Despite the big changes, the 20 Series produced some landmark moments – of Jordan North finding his happy place in Victoria Derbyshire testing his supermarket-themed stand-up – before ‘Mama G’ Giovanna Fletcher was crowned the first Queen of the Chateau.
Come dance strictly
Thank goodness for Strictly Come Dancing last year, which kept the nation’s spirits high as we got into a second lockdown. Despite the changing restrictions, lack of studio audiences, and professional Katya Jones’ positive COVID test, the cast actually ‘kept dancing’ – with comedian and fan favorite Bill Bailey lifting the Glitterball trophy in December after wowing the public with his choice of couple to the pleasure of the rapper.
The Great British Cake
Channel 4
The team behind Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off went to great lengths to deliver Series 11 during the pandemic, with the cast and crew secluding themselves for six weeks in a self-contained biosphere to film. However, all of the hassle was worth it, with fans loving the mind-boggling drama and dynamic between Noel Fielding and all-new presenter Matt Lucas.
Sunset Sale
Netflix
Netflix’s hit Selling Sunset became a foreclosure obsession for many viewers last year, with the release of season three making it one of the most-watched shows of this month. Revolving around Los Angeles-based real estate brokerage, Oppenheim Group, Selling Sunset follows glamorous agents as they sell million dollar ads while facing personal drama within the company. Arguably one of the most talked about shows of 2020, Selling the Sunset has catapulted its cast members to fame – with Chrishell Stause appearing in the recent Dance with the Stars series.
Race around the world
Let’s not forget Race Across the World – BBC Two’s intense travel competition that captivated viewers in March of last year. Told by Four Weddings and a Funeral’s John Hannah, the second series followed five couples as they attempted to reach Ushuaia – the world’s southernmost city – from Mexico City as quickly as possible. In the show’s finale, uncle and nephew duo Emon and Jamiul won the race, beating runners-up Jen and Rob by just 20 seconds – one of the most dramatic TV moments of the year.

The wacky and whimsical game show Taskmaster debuted on Channel 4 in 2020 and what a debut it was. Famous panelists Daisy May Cooper, Johnny Vegas, Katherine Parkinson, Mawaan Rizwan and Richard Herring took on the ridiculous challenges of Greg Davies and Alex Horne’s Series 10 of making a movie upside down, painting a wolf and to throw eggs in a distance away from the frying pan. Iconic television without a doubt.
Love is blind
When you thought dating shows couldn’t get crazier, Netflix introduced Love Is Blind – a reality TV series in which contestants dated without seeing what their date was like. Once engaged, the couples would meet for the first time and travel to a couples retreat in Mexico, where they would meet their fiance before the wedding day. The 11-part series, which aired in February, brought all the drama, romance, and mayhem you would expect from an experience like this and kept us well entertained throughout the month of love.
