Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Haven Entertainment Studios, the company founded by Jade Raymond which will become the 18th studio to join the PlayStation Studios family.
Raymond, who was also the founder of Ubisoft Toronto and Motive Studios and one of the key figures in Assassin’s Creed, launched Haven Studios in 2021 with investment from SIE. When Haven Studios was announced, Raymond shared that the team was looking to “create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community.”
Additionally, it has been confirmed that the project the team has been working on will be a new IP that will be exclusive to PlayStation. This news only strengthens their partnership.
“Joining PlayStation Studios gives Haven the creative freedom and unparalleled support to focus on creating the highest quality games,” said Jade Raymond, CEO and Founder of Haven Studios. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate and learn from all of the outstanding teams at PlayStation Studios. We intend to fully exploit the incredible capabilities of PS5 to create new worlds that inspire gamers and allow them to connect in new ways.
This new game is “a new live service experience for PlayStation built on a systemic, evolving world of freedom, thrill and play.” Raymond also previously revealed that the game will feature social elements and user-generated content.
Haven Studios currently has over 60 employees and “day-to-day post-acquisition operations will continue to be handled by the Haven Studios management team in close collaboration with the PlayStation Studios management team.”
