While ‘The Masked Singer UK’ keeps us busy every weekend, ITV is gearing up to launch a new entertainment show this weekend – ‘Starstruck’.
Hosted by Olly Murs, the show sees teams of superfans transform into their idol for a very special performance. Each team experiences the ultimate star makeover as they transform into their icon before taking the stage to sing one of their greatest hits.
The star-studded panel includes Queen frontman and singing sensation Adam Lambert, award-winning actress Sheridan Smith, soul sensation Beverley Knight and comedian Jason Manford.
Discussing what “Starstruck” is, Lambert teases, “I think anyone watching Starstruck is going to have a great time. There’s something for everyone, there’s something for every musical taste and every age, which is really exciting and I think it’s really easy to see yourself in the show. I mean they are regular people who work regularly and live out their fantasy, which is really exciting.
Regarding what he will bring to the panel, Lambert shares, “I hope to have a great time with my fellow judges. I mean I’ve been looking forward to this for a year and the idea of celebrating these artists with members of the public seems like a good time. I’m looking to have some laughs and joy and you know after the year we’ve had with COVID-19 everyone just wants to have fun and connect and I think that’s a great way to do that .
Without giving away too many spoilers, Lambert is keen to discuss the level of talent that participated in the show.
“I’ve been really impressed with the talent. We’ve seen the talent show shows on TV over the last decade, it’s a bit of that energy but it’s more specific, you ask someone one to sound like someone we all already know – that’s a special talent. It’s a new kind of talent to celebrate and target. I was really impressed with the singing of a lot of these bands. A lot of artists we’re tackling aren’t just pop stars, they’re known for their looks, they’re also pop stars known for their vocal ability. It’s exciting to see people rise to the challenge.
‘Starstruck’ starts this Saturday February 12 at 8:30 p.m. on ITV and ITV Hub.
